JAMMU, Apr 4: Fresh firing was tonight reported from village Dungani in upper reaches of Billawar tehsil in Kathua district while search and cordon operation was launched at Rajwalata also in the same tehsil after a woman claimed to have seen three terrorists in the area.

Reports said the search parties of security forces at Dungani village observed some suspicious movement in the upper reaches around 9.30 pm.
Police officers confirmed firing in the area. However, they said, it will be premature to say whether any encounter has taken place between security forces and terrorists as it was darkness. However, they said, additional forces have rushed to the spot to intensify search operations.
In a separate incident, a woman informed police that she observed movement of three terrorists near her house at village Rajwalata, also in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district.
Soon after getting the information, police and SOG personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Security forces have also rushed to the spot.
On Wednesday night, three terrorists surfaced in a house at Chore Punjuan in Majalta area on Kathua-Udhampur border and escaped after taking food and a mobile telephone.
Army, paramilitary forces, police and SOG have launched search operations at different places in upper reaches of Kathua and Udhampur district as three terrorists, who escaped from Safiyan Jakhole encounter in Kathua district last Thursday, remained untraced.
Two terrorists were killed in Safiyan encounter while four police personnel were martyred.
Five terrorists were spotted by a family near a sprawling Nursery at village Sanyal in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on March 23. However, they escaped before security forces laid a cordon. Movement of the terrorists was again observed at village Safiyan Jakhole in Rajbagh area of Kathua on March 27 leading to fierce encounter in which two terrorists were killed and four police personnel were martyred.
Three terrorists who escaped from Safiyan Jakhole surfaced at village Rui on March 29 when they forcibly took away some food from a woman after intruding into her house. Again, security forces launched searches in the area but the terrorists, one of whom was in injured condition, escaped.
The terrorists were trapped at Panjtirthi forests of Billawar in Kathua district on March 31 night leading to heavy exchange of gun battle but they slipped away.
The terrorists, as per the sources, are trying to reach some forest areas of Billawar where they may have certain cave hideouts for taking shelter.
