Fresh traffic allowed from Jammu to Srinagar on Kashmir Highway

SRINAGAR: After clearing all the vehicles stranded at various places on this side of the Jawahar Tunnel, fresh vehicles, including those carrying passengers, were allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar on the 300-km-long National Highway, the only road linking Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.

No vehicle was allowed from Srinagar as only one-way traffic was allowed to ply on the highway. “We have allowed fresh traffic from Jammu to Srinagar after all the vehicles stranded at various places on the highway were cleared,” a traffic official said.

Hundreds of vehicles, including those ferrying passengers and trucks carrying essential communities, left the winter capital, Jammu for Kashmir valley this evening. However, commuters alleged inconvenience due to massive traffic jam at various places on the National Highway. (AGENCIES)
