Fuel supplies again suspended

JAMMU, Sept 4: The fuel supply to Kashmir which was resumed on the assurance of the full security cover by the DGP and Chief Secretary on Friday, was again stopped today.
General secretary of the All J&K Tanker Drivers and Cleaners Union, Surinder Singh told the Excelsior that about 200 fuel tankers which were loaded from all the three Oil depots at Narwal, near Jammu Railway Station on Saturday, have been stopped by the Police/ Traffic authorities at Banihal, Ramban, Chanderkote and Udhampur Bypass. He said the tanker operators were told by Police that situation was volatile in Valley and under such circumstances security cover can not be provided.
Union leader further said that during mid day today when tankers were being loaded at all the three Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL depots at Narwal, a police party led by a DySP in Gypsy arrived there and they asked to stop loading tankers and suspend supplies to Kashmir.
