By releasing the amount for Panchayats, the Central Government has done its job or empowering people at grass root level. Now, it is upto the State Government and Panchayati Raj institutions to use these funds judiciously, and undertaking developmental works in their respective areas. It is incumbent upon these institutions to priorities work so that people can be benefitted.
Otherwise, if works are done randomly and in unscientific manner, these institutions will lose relevance, and people will feel let down. This will be a big betrayal. These newly elected Panchs and Sarpanchs should be put on a probation period to get them familiar with rules and regulations of the system. Their working should be properly monitored and counselled accordingly. This would give credence to the institution, and public money will be of some benefit to the socio-economic cause of the country.
