Funds no constraint for Basmati Village: Bukhari

JAMMU, Jan 29: Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, M A Bukhari today said that funds would not be any constraint for the Basmati Village project in Jammu.
In a statement, Mr Bukhari said, “in order to ensure that the Basmati Village is developed on scientific lines, base line survey and technical vetting are very important besides cost benefit analysis and the economic impact it would have on the farmers”, adding “the department is also exploring the possibilities of linking the produce in the market so as to have better of the produce apart from enhancing the quality and quantity per hectare”.
“Once the project is submitted complete in all respects, the same will be forwarded to the Planning and Development Department and funds would not be any issue in the implementation of the project”, he further said.
He said that proposal for Model Village was received by the Agriculture Production Department in the month of September 2015 and immediately after its receipt, the same was examined in detail. It was found that the project report was deficient in certain key aspects viz. the base line survey etc. and also technical vetting by the SKUAST was not done. Accordingly, directions have been issued for completion of this exercise.
