JAMMU, Apr 10 : A delegation of “All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association” led by its State President Parveen Jaryal called on Minister of State for PWD (R&B) Sunil Sharmahere today. On this occasion Jaryal stated that Gaddis are the Hindu Rajputs who inhabit high altitudinal, sloping, difficult and inaccessible hilly terrains of the State and their livelihood revolves mainly around the strenuous avocation of rearing large flocks of goat, sheep and other cattle.
He stated that most of the inhabitations of Gaddi and Sippi tribes are without motorable road and other allied basic amenities of life. Some of these villages get cut off from any type of communication during heavy snowfall in Winter causing serious problems to the inhabitants in general and old age patients and pregnant women in particular. Stating that roads are the first sign of development of a place, Jaryal appealed the Minister for providing motorable road connectivity to all Gaddi Sippi inhabited villages in the State with priority to remotest villages like Haddal, Bharie, Banjla, Kakol in Bhadarwah, Doula in Bani, Patta in Assar, Kriya and Duthan in Ramban. He also requested the Minister for early completion of underconstruction roads to some of the remotest Gaddi Sippi villages like Kansar in Bhaderwah, Thanda pani in Assar, Dhaggar in Bani. The Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the government will take cognizance of their demands and will take steps for the fulfilling them. Prominent among others who were present in delegation include Om Prakash (state vice President), Shankar Chand (Dist. President Udhampur), Sarpanch Khem Raj, Kuldeep Singh etc.
