The protest was held under the leadership of  Sardar Singh,  president Gaddi Sippi Students Union of Government Degree College (Boys) Udhampur. He said that the building of newly constructed  Gaddi Sippi hostel in the premises of Govt. Degree College Boys Udhampur was inaugurated by the then Minister of  Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali in 2015 but the  Hostel is still not made functional despite  so many requests made by the community.
He added that the under privileged down trodden  students of Gaddi Sippi tribes in  district Udhampur  come from far flung hilly and inaccessible terrains and they  desperately need hostel facility at District Headquarter to continue their studies.
On this occasion State President All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association Parveen Jaryal  served  an ultimatum of 15 days to the Government and district administration for handing over the hostel to the authorities of the college and  make it functional.
Later, a memorandum was also submitted by the students to the district administration in support of their demand.
