Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association highlights demands

BHADERWAH, Oct 31: All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its State president, Prof BP Singh Chouhan, in which deliberations were held on various contemporary issues and concerns of Gaddi and Sippi tribes of the State.
While speaking, Prof Chouhan said that Government has not made any endeavour for socio-economic development of Gaddi and Sippi tribes and instead has excluded these marginalized and deprived tribes in social, political, educational and economic spheres.
In the ensuing Block Development Council (BDC) elections, Prof Chouhan demanded reservation for STs in blocks Chenani, Pancheri and Dudu Basantgarh in district Udhampur, blocks Bhadarwah and Assar in district Doda, block Duggan, Bani and Malhar in district Kathua and block Ramban in district Ramban where there is large number of population of Gaddi and Sippi tribes.
On this occasion, Moti Ram, State general secretary of GSTWA projected other demands which included establishment of an Advisory Board for development of Gaddi Sippi tribes, restart of pre matric scholarship, establishment of Gaddi Sippi Hostels, one per cent reservation quota in all professional colleges of the State, political reservation for STs at par with SCs, recognition of Gaddi language in the 6th Schedule of Constitution of J&K and nomination of members belonging to Gaddi and Sippi tribes one each for Upper House of Legislature, PSC, Service Selection Board and District Development Boards.
Among others present were Parveen Jaryal, State organizing secretary, Bhim Sen, State vice president, Kuldeep Singh district president Doda, Shiv Kumar, district secretary, Doda, Kewal Kumar, tehsil president, Bhadarwah, Abhinesh Kumar and Sarpanchs Omkar Singh, Prakash Chand, Subhash Kumar and Khem Raj.
