Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association’s protest enters 2nd day

JAMMU, Feb 18: The protest by All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association entered second day today.
The Gaddi Sippi communities’ people led by State secretary Bimal Kumar of All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, Bimal Kumar stated that their protest will continue for five days in support of their demands.
He asserted that the Government has established LAHDC for development of schedule tribes of Ladakh region, where more than 10 per cent population belongs to ST category.
Government has also made various provisions for the welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes, but ignored Gaddi Sippi communities at all spheres of development, he added.
Kumar demanded establishment of advisory board for development of Gaddi Sippi communities, establishment of hostels, restart of pre-matric scholarship, abolition of sub categories of ST category, representation in Upper House of State Legislature, representation in district development boards, district ST advisory group, J&KSSB, J&KPSC and other welfare boards and recognition of Gaddi language in 6th schedule of the constitution of J&K.
Among others present were Kuldeep Kumar, Shanker Chand, Sham Lal, Lok Nath, Rattan Chand, etc.
