Gaddi Sippy seek representation in newly constituted Commission

JAMMU, Apr 21: All Jammu and Kashmir Gaddi Sabha (AJKGS) today appealed the Lieutenant Governor to appoint at least one member from the Gaddi Sippy community in the recently constituted Commission by J&K Government to identify problems of Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Scheduled Castes (SCs).
President of AJKGS, Thakur Dass said that Gaddi tribe was the second largest tribe after Gujjar and Bakarwal in Jammu and Kashmir. “Despite second largest tribe it is still most backward in term of educationally, economically and politically and it gauged from this fact that since independence not a single Gaddi person is either a Minister or MLA or head of any organisation so far,” he said.
He further said that no other tribes could surpass us in term of backwardness and our poverty. IAS and IFS are still forbidden fruit for us. So it is humble appealed to LG at-least one members of their community should be inducted in the newly commission so that the community may not feel ignored as ignored by the earlier Commission since 1979.
The Sabha also appealed district administration of Kathua and Samba to issue passes to these communities so that they continue their annual migration toward hilly areas.
They also appealed the administration for evacuation of stranded labourers belonging to this community outside J&K.
Prominent who provided their view through online media were Kuldeep Kumar (Youth president), BK Charak, Hans Raj, Tirath Ram, Ashok Thokan, Lekh Raj Thokan, Shiv Dev Singh, Pars Ram Sujan, Kartar Chand Sujan, and Khem Raj.
