Of 25 works, 18 fall in Udhampur-Doda segment, 7 in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 22: Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay foundation stone of 25 major National Highway projects from Doda district on November 24 which will involve a cost of Rs 11,721 crore and have a total length of 257 kilometres.
Significantly, out of the total 25 road projects, 18 fall in Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary constituency of Dr Jitendra Singh and seven in the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat represented by BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Gadkari will be joined in the ceremony by Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh (Retd), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP.
Official sources told the Excelsior that Gadkari will fly to Doda on November 24 from where he will simultaneously lay the foundation of the road projects which will further boost road connectivity in hilly and far flung areas of Jammu division.
“The road projects will be completed at a total cost of Rs 11,721 crore and involved 257 kilometres road length in Jammu division,” sources said.
Gadkari will return to New Delhi the same day.
Few days back, Gadkari had announced nearly Rs 3900 crore worth projects in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh including part of Delhi-Katra Expressway, Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway and a major highway in Ladakh.
The Road Transport and National Highways Ministry is also in the process of approving four more National Highways in Jammu region, three of which fall in the Lok Sabha constituency of Dr Jitendra Singh and one in the segment of Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Dr Jitendra Singh thanked Gadkari for proposed foundation laying ceremony of the projects which will give major boost to road connectivity. He also hailed the Minister for giving bumper share to his Lok Sabha constituency.
The road projects whose foundation will be laid by Nitin Gadkari include Goha-Khellani section and a link road to Goha village which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 228.39 crore and has total length of 9.46 kilometres, another road on Goha-Khellani section on NH-244 which will be completed at a cost of Rs 210.79 crore and has total length of 8.73 kilometres, Khellani tunnel and its approach road on NH.244 to be constructed at a cost of Rs 749.61 crore and has a length of 3.9 kilometres and bi-directional tunnel and a major bridge to be constructed on EPC mode with Rs 91.29 crore and a length of 1.2 kilometres.
Other road projects whose foundation will be laid are Khellani to Prem Nagar road on Khellani-Kishtwar-Chatroo sector which involved a cost of Rs 486.45 crore and has length of 20.2 kilometres, Prem Nagar to New Thathri road in Khellani-Kishtwar-Chatroo sector which will be constructed for Rs 512.43 crore and is 14.84 kilometres in length, Kishtwar bypass on Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellai-Kishtwar-Vailoo-Donipawa-Ashajipora section of National Highway 244 which is 12.8 kilometres in length and will be completed at a cost of Rs 398.51 crore and Dulhasti to Bandarkoot Kishtwar bypass on Khellani-Kishtwar-Chatroo section and a link road to Kishtwar on NH-244 which will be completed at a cost of Rs 859.67 crore and has a length of 14.88 kilometres.
More projects whose foundation will be laid on Wednesday are Gandarkoot to Chatroo road on Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellani-Kishtwar-Vailoo-Donipawa-Ashajipora section on NH-244 which has cost of Rs 497.09 crore and is 15.536 kilometres in length, construction of four lane twin tube tunnel configuration including approaches from Marog to Digdol worth Rs 1912.17 crore and having a length of 4.38 kilometres, construction of four lane twin tube tunnels including approaches from Digdol to Khooni Nallah involving a cost of Rs 1401.87 crore and 3.2 kilometres length, construction of four laning of Ramban to Banihal section of NH-44 from Mompassi to Sher Bibi which will be completed at a cost of Rs 614.5 crore and has length of 6.02 kilometres and construction of tunnel/viaduct at identified sliding/slip zones in Udhampur-Ramban section between Nashri to Ramban which involved a cost of Rs 448 crore and has a length of 2.2 kilometres.
More projects which whose foundation will be laid include service road from Logate Morh and reconstruction of old major bridges on National Highway 44 in Kathua district to be constructed at a cost of Rs 41.3 crore and having length of 3 kilometres and construction of Palli Morh section in Kathua district for Rs 26.04 crore which has a length of 1.06 kilometres.
All these works fall in the Lok Sabha constituency of Dr Jitendra Singh.
The works whose foundation will be laid in the Parliamentary constituency of Jammu-Poonch represented by Jugal Kishore Sharma area rectification of Chichi Mata road in Samba district involving a cost of Rs 18.84 crore having a length of 1.74 kilometres, rectification of Samba Flyover for Rs 97.48 crore which has a length of 1.85 kilometres and rectification of Mansar Morh in Samba district for Rs 22.88 crore which involved a length of .91 kilometres.
Other works whose foundation will be laid in Jammu-Poonch constituency are Kandi tunnel from Akhnoor to Choura having 16.45 kilometres length and involved a cost of Rs 272.49 crore , up gradation of Sungal tunnel from Chowki to Sungal at a cost of Rs 796.97 crore having length of 9.35 kilometres, Bhalla to Balshama road on Akhnoor-Poonch highway costing Rs 152.93 crore which will be 18.55 kilometres in length, Siot to Dandesar road which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 114. 75 crore and has 1.8 kilometres length and Nowshera tunnel from Rajal to Kallar which will be executed with a cost of Rs 642.24 crore and will have 26.83 kilometres length.
