KATHUA, Mar 3: The irate residents of Gadyali village in Hiranagar teshil staged a protest demonstration and blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway this morning at Hiranagar in protest against the water scarcity being faced by them for over last two months due to the breakdown of tube well in the area.
The protestors raising slogans against the PHE Department alleged that for last two months they have been making trips from one PHE Office to another but no body took pains to rectify the fault and restore the water supply to the area.
The protestors said this forced them to come to streets and block the National Highway to turn the attention of the Government towards the burning issue.
Later police party led by senior officers, XEn PHE Kathua and revenue officers reached the venue of protest and pacified the demonstrators. The authorities assured them that till restoration of tubewell tanker supply will be made in the area. On this assurance the people lifted the dharna.
