JAMMU, May 1: M.L.A R.S Pura, Dr.Gagan Bhagat visited village Kothi in R.S Pura Constituency and met with the families and individuals affected in the fire incident that took place yesterday evening.
A total of 14 buffaloes and six other bovines suffered serious injuries in the fire .The fire was caused due to burning of left over crop in the fields. Some people for their vested interests have been setting the standing crop on fire, though the same has been banned by Government. The MLA was informed this by the local people during his visit to the area.
According to reports Sher Ali and his brothers, a resident of Kothi Khour village in R.S Pura run the milk business .On Sunday evening, a fire broke out in the shed when all the cattle heads were tied to the posts. The fire soon spread to every part of the shed as a result of which,14 buffaloes suffered serious injuries while six others incurred severe burn injuries. The fire brigade officials of R.S Pura fire station yesterday rushed to the spot to douse the blaze on the directions of Dr.Gagan Bhagat when the news was received.
Officers from the Miran Sahib police station and officials from the Tehsil office R.S Pura also rushed to the spot after learning about the incident. Veterinary doctors were summoned to provide treatment to the injured cattle. After primary investigations, the police that who so ever was responsible will be dealt as per the law. Dr. Bhagat provided tents, utensils, blankets and other important items through the Red Cross Society ,and announced that the Buffaloes which were seriously injured will be shifted to the SKUAST Veterinary hospital for specialized treatment and the nomads who suffered huge loss will be provided compensation once report comes.
He also issued directions to the administration to take care of the victims and provide daily basis feedback to his office. Officials who accompanied the Legislator included Tehsildar R.S Pura Sohan Lal, B.D.O Miran Sahib, Mohd.Sayeed, S.H.O Miran Sahib Ravinder Rakwal, BVO Dr.R.L Motton,Indian Red Cross Society Team,BJP Mandal Pradhan Natharam ,Ashok Salaria, Harbhajan Singh,Shabbir Ahmed, Farman Ali,Sadiq Ahmed, Behari Lal ,Rinku Kumarand locals of the Village Kothi and Khour.
