GAH Jammu organizes seminar to mark World Arthritis Day

JAMMU, Oct 13: Government Ayurvedic Hospital (GAH), Jammu today organized a seminar to mark the occasion of World Arthritis Day.
Dr Virender Mahajan, noted Ayurvedic Physician and recipient of National as well as J&K Government Award for developing anti-arthritis herbal drug was the main speaker on the occasion.
Dr Mahajan, while speaking on the occasion, presented how to manage arthritis and allied ailments in the present era. He stated that the number of medicines and methodologies are available in the texts of Ayurveda. He further said that Ayurveda is not only a system of treatment but it also preaches how to live healthy and disease free life.
Dr Devender Gupta, Deputy Director, ISM, stressed for the need of qualitative, effective and evidence based medicines while Dr Taran Singh stressed upon the Ayurvedic doctors to know about the strengths and the weaknesses of the systems and work on it.
Dr Mahesh Chander Sharma, Senior Medical Officer (Retd) spoke on detail about the Swasthwrit. He stated that Ayurveda not treat an ailment, it cures the ailment and suggest ways and means for prevention.
127 patients suffering from arthritis and allied ailments availed the services of consultants in the camp. All these patients were given free medicines.
