*Urges filmmakers to rediscover J&K’s captivating locales

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, has urged the country’s premier film fraternity to rediscover the captivating locales of the State’s incomparable scenic beauty.
He assured the Bollywood’s big production houses of Government’s full support in facilitating their shooting plans and itineraries in the country’s top tourist destination.
Ganai, who is also the Advisor Incharge Tourism, was speaking at a function in the presence of popular film actor John Abraham and filmmaker and producer Bunty Walia, who are in Kashmir for shooting of their new film.
Welcoming the guests, the Advisor said he was pleased to see big actors like John Abraham shooting in the valley and exuded confidence that other Bollywood bigwigs will soon come back to roll out their cameras here. “I am happy that you have enjoyed your shooting stints in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, but I assure you that there are many other locations that define J&K’s unique splendour,” he added.
Ganai also recalled the era of the Sixties and Seventies when Kashmir remained one-stop destination for top filmmakers of the country.
Secretary Tourism, Rigzian Sampheal, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar and Budgam and representatives of tour and travel operators including Mukhtar Shah and Vicky Shaw were also present on the occasion.
