JAMMU, Sept 5: In connection with Ganesh Chaturthi, impressive Shobha Yatras were taken out for Ganapati Visarajan (immersion of the Lord Ganesh’s idols) in Tawi, Chenab and other water bodies.
Amidst beating of drums and singing of Bhajans in praise of Lord Ganesha, these Shobha Yatras were taken out from different parts of the Jammu region and passed through adjoining areas before immersion of Lord Ganesha idols with proper rituals.
Elaborate arrangements were made by local administration for smooth Ganesh Visarjan Yatras. Special prayers were held by people on the occasion.
An impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out by the devotees of Luxmi Narayan Temple at Dhakki Sarajan today to bid adieu to Lord Ganesha (Bappa), who was installed in the temple since Ganesh Chaturthi. BJP State vice president Yudhvir Sethi was especially invited by Jammu Swarankar Association and Maratha Swarankar Association, who had made elaborate arrangements for the Shobha Yatra before Ganesh Visarjan in river Tawi. The Shobha Yatra passed through Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi, Vinayak Bazar, Parade, Chowk Chabutra, Lakhdatta Bazar, Kachi Chawni and Mubarak Mandi.
The procession comprised of elephants and bands brought from Gujarat. Tableaux were received by people of different faiths and religions enroute.
Similar Ganapati Visrajan took place at river Chenab in Akhnoor where a large number of devotees reached in the form of impressive religious processions and then immersed Lord Ganesh idol in the river water.
During the 10-day festival, devotees performed Puja at the temples and had beautifully decorated ‘pandals’ where Ganesha idols were installed.
