SRINAGAR, Nov 2: The district administration Ganderbal has issued directions for controlling the spread of lumpy skin disease and has asked all the departments to work in coordination.
In this regard, the Animal Husbandry Department has been directed to implement all advisories issued by the Administrative Department from time to time on the ground and identify the prevalence of the disease and ensure vaccination of the animals affected by the disease.
“On identification of prevalence of the disease, Municipal Council Ganderbal shall apply the insecticides and fly repellents in & around the cattle farms/ individual cow sheds affected by the disease with support of Rural Development Department (Panchayats),” the guidelines issued read.
Further, all the line departments have been asked to coordinate with each other so that advisories/ directions issued by Govt from time to time be implemented on the ground and also for timely response to avoid any further spreading of the disease.
Since the Animal Husbandry Department is the main player, the guidelines state, it is the responsibility of the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Ganderbal to coordinate with all line departments to prevent cause for the spread of disease to new epicenters. “Further reports shall reach…on daily basis in prescribed format,” it said.
