SRINAGAR, Mar 13: Authorities in Ganderbal have formed a Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee (SFCAC) to review and sanction, sponsorship for preventive settings and Foster care fund under Juvenile Justice in the district.
The SFCAC has been tasked to monitor the sponsorship and foster care programme within the jurisdiction of the district as provided under the mission, apart from reviewing each recommendation and approving cases of sponsorship and foster care support in cases found deserving.
“Such cases will then be referred to the Child Welfare Committee for the final order for sponsorship/foster care as a deserving case.”
The committee will have the District Magistrate, Ganderbal as Chairperson, District Social Welfare Officer, Ganderbal as Member Secretary, Chairperson/Member, Child Welfare Committee as Member, Representative of Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) as Member, Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care) DCPU as Member and Chairman of SRDGW as Member.
The SFCAC will be responsible to sanction sponsorship and foster care on receipt of the final order from the CWC, while it has been further stated that the committee shall meet every month and function in a time-bound manner.
