Gandhi Global Family celebrates 71st United Nations Day

JAMMU, Oct 24: Gandhi Global Family, J&K in collaboration with GPF Jammu and CEET J&K celebrated 71st United Nations Day.
In commemoration of the United Nations Day, the Gandhi Global Family, a United Nations recognized Peace NGO paid an educational visit to Lawrence Public School where quiz and debate on United Nations were held.
Hundreds of students, staff members, representative of the 17 partner schools and GGF volunteers celebrated the day with huge enthusiasm.
A special assembly was held where flags of 193 countries were represented.
Padmashri SP Varma, Vice President, Gandhi Global Family expressed concern over the significant increase in tensions and unrest among different countries especially in Asia and Africa. “No Government or authority can create peace. Peace is a collective responsibility of all. If it is not taken seriously then the whole world will turn into a battleground”, he added.
On the 71st United Nations Day, he urged the civil society to work together with the utmost urgency to restore peace. Dialogue and diplomacy is the only way out to bring peace in the world, he stated.
The message of UN Secretary General was also read on the occasion.
Later, Manish Joshi, Principal of the school presented vote of thanks.
Representatives of 17 UNSDGs partner schools including Alexander School, GD Goenka, Tiny Tots, Shangrila Public, Jammu Sanskriti, Jodhamal Public, JK Montessori, Lawrence Public, Shiksha Niketan, Doon International, Oriental Academy, ST Tarapuri, Model Academy, Heritage School,  KC Public School and KC International were also present.
