Gang of car lifters busted, 3 held

RAMBAN, Feb 25: Police here today busted a gang of car lifters and arrested three persons in this regard besides recovering two stolen cars from their disclosure.
A complaint was filed by one Jasrar Ahmed, resident of Batote that his car of Alto make bearing registration number JK02D-9204 parked by him on roadside near his residence was stolen by someone during the intervening night of February 2-3, 2024.
A case in FIR number 21/2024 under Section 379 IPC was registered in this regard at Police Station Batote.
In another incident of car theft on February 17, 2024, a complaint was filed by one Ranvijay Singh, an Advocate regarding theft of his car of Grand i-10 Nios Sportz make bearing registration number JK02CL- 4073 from outside of District Court complex Ramban.
A case in FIR number 42/2024 under Section 379 IPC was registered in this regard at Police Station Ramban.
Sensing gravity of the offences, SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar constituted special police teams to recover the stolen vehicles.
The team of Police Station Batote rounded up many suspects and based on specific inputs two suspects Mohd Sher Khan, son of Mohd Haneif and Sher Ali, son of Mohd Sadiq, both residents of Ganeshu Chak, Phallian Mandal, Jammu were rounded up and during questioning they confessed their involvement in vehicle theft after which Alto car was recovered.
The Police team from Police Station Ramban also rounded up many suspects and on specific input one suspect Mudassar Ahmed Mir, son of Shamshu Din, resident of Failthy Maitra, Ramban was taken into custody.
During questioning Mir confessed his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure stolen car Grand i-10 was recovered.
The arrest and recovery was made under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar.
