SRINAGAR, Apr 18: Police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who were using fake (wooden) gun for robberies in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
Addressing a press conference today, SDPO Sopore Raja Majid said that a gang of thieves which were looting people in parts of Sopore using a wooden AK 47, has been arrested by a police team today.
He said during a special operation, all the four members of the gang were arrested by Sopore police. The officer further said that they recovered a wooden AK-47 gun, one motorcycle and two cell phones from their procession which they were using to loot people in parts of Sopore.
“The accused are identified as Bilal Ahmed Rather (Carpenter), Latief alias Tusqi, Farooq Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmed, all residents of Sopore,” the officer said.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Azim Iqbal talking with media said that the accused thieves committed many robberies in town with the fake (wooden) gun. He said the accused were active in the area for last one year.
