RAJOURI, July 24: Irate people staged strong protest and blocked road for over six long hours along with dead body at Kalakote today after a minor girl and student of class XI committed suicide after she was gang-raped by three teachers including a son of Principle of a private academy in Kalakote area.
The victim, identified as Seema-17, daughter of Raj Kumar, resident of village Batera near Kalakote, died in GMC hospital early today. The shell-shocked girl consumed poison and narrated the incident to the parents on Monday. She was rushed to Sunderbani hospital where doctors provided preliminary treatment and then referred to GMC hospital, Jammu. She died in the hospital at Jammu early today.
Her body was brought back to Kalakote and after postmortem handed over to the family. The parents, relatives and a large number of people of the area took the body to Khadgalla Chowk and started protest demonstration against the police at 11 am. They alleged that SHO Kalakote, K D Bhagat released the accused after taking bribe. They demanded arrest of all the three rape accused and suspension of SHO. More people of Kalakote town and adjoining villages, when came to know about the suicide by the gang rape victim, joined the protest dharna.
A large number of vehicles remained stranded on the road and passengers had to face the tough time. The police failed to clear the road and it preferred to stay away apprehending violence and trouble. SDM Nowshera Rajinder Sharma and Addl SP Parshotam moved to the site in the afternoon and talked to the irate villagers. They assured to arrest all the accused and take action under law against the accused. The people gave 12 hours time to cops and lifted body back to home and said that it will be cremated only after all the accused were arrested. Many political and social organizations of the area joined dharna and condemned role of police and demanded social boycott of this private accademy Netaji Subash Chander Memoral Academy at Kalakote being run by one Mohd Zaffar teacher and his brother Iqbal.
A police spokesman claimed that Principal of the academy Mohd Zaffar and his son who is prime accused have been arrested. Two accused Aurangzeb and Iftikhar Hussain who are teachers of this private school are still absconding. The incident has also created communal tension in the area, he added.
Giving details, the spokesman said on Friday, victim Seema was waiting for a bus at Sailsui bus stop. These three teachers Mohd Wasim, Iftikhar and Auregzeb came in a car and gave lift to the girl up to Kalakote. The girl had studied in the same school up to 10th and was passed out from there recently. Since the teachers were known, she took the lift. The accused then drove the vehicle to some other location and kidnapped the girl. They took her towards Dhundla forest and committed rape on her one by one and escaped. The shocked girl then reached home and remained upset. The family members said that in two days the girl remained depressed and in shock and did not tell anything despite inquiring. Then on Monday morning, she consumed insecticides and told the whole story. Then they reported the matter to Kalakote police.
