Ganga distributes Rs 24 lakh among people for construction of latrines

JAMMU, Jan 28: Former Minister and MLA, Chander Prakash Ganga,  today inaugurated bio toilet community sanitary complex constructed with Rs. 1.50 lakh under DRDO at Vijaypur.
The MLA also distributed Rs. 24 lakh among 200 beneficiaries for construction of individual household latrine units at Ramgarh.
Later, the MLA attended an awareness camp organized by the Rural Development Department (RDD) at block headquarter Ramgarh to raise awareness among the rural masses about the importance of a hygienic and healthy lifestyle for which the Department has launched a number of welfare and development programmes. He said that open defecation not only leads to several diseases but it also demoralizes the very ethos of a civilized society. Besides, such practices also set a bad example for coming generations, he added.
He said the State administration is committed to create better infrastructural facilities in every nook and corner of the State under a well-knit development programme. He also referred to the recent innovative measures announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which envisages holistic development of all regions and all important public sectors. He said within next couple of years the State would witness hub of developmental activities and there would be total transformation of Jammu and Kashmir on development point of view.
Referring to various initiatives being taken up by the Central Government for steering J&K towards new heights of progress and prosperity, the MLA said that though formulating and implementing development programmes is the job of administration but the common people play a crucial role in this regard. He appealed the people to actively participate in all development activities being carried out in their respective areas so that the real purpose of launching such programmes could be met.
ACD, Tilak Raj Thapa, SDM, Rajneesh, BDO, Anirudh Rai, DPO, Deepak Dubey, members of NGOs, PRIs besides local people were present on the occasion.
