SAMBA, Oct 8: The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today handed over free LPG connections to 175 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at a camp held at Vijaypur.
The Minister highlighted the benefits of ‘Give it Up’ campaign of the Govt to provide clean fuel to poor households replacing the fossil fuels such as coal, fuel wood, cow dung and crop residue. He said that it will not only help in improving health of women but also protect the environment.
Ganga said that initiatives like Direct Benefit Transfer and e- governance have increased the transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Government departments. He cited pro-people measures like increase in disbursement under old age and widow pension schemes to Rs 1000, Ladli Beti Scheme, Aasra, Atal Pension Yojana, and PMJJBY of the Govt. He called for seeding of Adhaar numbers with beneficiary accounts to provide benefits of these schemes in a fair and transparent manner. He said that the Govt‘s endeavour is to make sure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of the social security schemes.
Ganga assured that whole district would be covered under the PMUY scheme within 3 years. SDM Vijaypur, Ravinder Sharma was also present on the occasion.
