Ganga launches PPIP at Samba

Emphasizes maintenance of population immunity, sensitive surveillance to weed out the syndrome

SAMBA: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, today administered polio drops to children at Sarore Adda as part of ongoing Pulse polio immunization programme (PPIP).

Speaking on the occasion, Ganga emphasized importance of campaign in view of recurring cases in neighboring countries where poliovirus is still circulating and there is high risk of importation of this crippling disease. “There is dire need to maintain the population immunity and sensitive surveillance to achieve the goal of complete polio eradication from the society”, he asserted.

Spelling out government initiatives for combating such syndromes, the Minister said that several new vaccines have been introduced by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all the concerned have been strictly instructed to take this latest medication to every part.  “It is earnest effort of the Central Government that such vaccines are made available to the upcoming generations in a hassle free manner under the supervision of Health department”, he added.

He appreciated the role of Health department functionaries, NGO’s, Rotary club and other supporting organizations in eradicating polio from the country.
