JAMMU : Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today chaired a meeting of officers of Public Health Engineer (PHE), Power Development Department (PDD) and Rural Development Department (RDD) to take stock of progress of various development works being executed in Vijaypur constituency.
While reviewing the progress of projects under PHE, Ganga directed the engineers to explore every option to improve the capacity of existing establishments besides mooting new proposals keeping in view the future needs. He called for formulation of plans for the revival of defunct water schemes for maintenance and augmentation of supply. He directed the engineers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects to complete them within stipulated time frame.
He directed PDD to ensure judicious and legal use of electricity in the area. To reduce load shedding during summer season, the Minister asked the officers to devise a strategy of reducing transmission and distribution losses along with checking pilferage of electricity. Ganga said that Government has taken several reformative measures for revamping power infrastructure and for improving overall power scenario in the State.
While reviewing projects under RDD, the Minister was informed that the department has taken up construction works of motorable roads, passenger sheds, irrigation canals, culverts and Panchayat ghars among others.
The Minister exhorted upon the need for effective implementation of various schemes under rural development department as they hold the key to socio-economic empowerment of not just a region but the state as a whole.
The Minister stressed upon the departments to work in convergence with other departments while undertaking developmental activities in Vijaypur.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer PHE Samba, Surinder Kumar Abrol, AEE PDD, Aijaz Ahmed, BDO Ramgarh, Mukesh Sharma, BDO Vijaypur, C L Gandhi and other senior officers.
