SAMBA, Dec 5: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today called for timely and smooth distribution of ration to the consumers. He stressed the need for maintaining transparency and accountability in the ration distribution system.
Speaking at a function after inaugurating Tehsil Supply Office (TSO) of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department at Bari Brahmana in presence of a large number of people, the Minister said that opening of TSO will ensure smooth distribution and supply of ration to the people especially those living in far flung areas of district Samba.
The Minister directed the officers to work hard and ensure timely distribution of ration besides bringing transparency in the distribution of food grains and weed out bogus and fake ration cards/beneficiaries so that food grains do not get pilfered and black marketed. He directed the officers to ensure that genuine beneficiaries are not left out and called for preparation of an error-free beneficiary list besides organizing awareness camps.
Ganga said for the convenience of the consumers, the department has made ration cards available on the website of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department with the facility of downloading the same.
