Gangster act slapped on 6 accused in murder of BJP MLA’s wife

MUZAFFARNAGAR, June 12:  Six persons serving life term in jail for the murder of BJP leader Hukum Singh’s wife Revati Singh were charged under the Gangster act by a local court.

The Additional District Sessions judge D K Garg charged Shanker, Sunil, Ashok, Ravi, Jasod and Pradeep under the Gangster Act today for their involvement in the murder.

Revati Singh (75), was murdered at her residence and Rs 78 lakh in cash and ornaments were looted from their house on July 30, 2010.

Police had later arrested seven persons, including the domestic help Shankar, and recovered a cash amount of 52.80 lakh looted by them.

Last year, the six accused were awarded life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each while the seventh accused Lallan was acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. (PTI)
