THANNAMANDI (Rajouri), June 9: The residents of Thannamandi today alleged that it is the failure of Thannamandi Municipality Administration (TMA) due to which garbage is accumulated along the roadside leading out of the town.
“Despite repeated calls for action, none of the official from TMA is bothered to visit the area where the huge heaps of garbage are accumulated along the road side,” claim Sameer Gupta, one of the resident.
“The Thannamandi Municipality has failed to implement any effective waste management strategies, subsequently contaminates nearby rivers, jeopardizing the health and well-being of both humans and wildlife of particular,” he said.
Another concern is the hazardous accumulation of trash along the route to Pir Baba Zakri Shah Ziarat, a site of significant cultural and religious importance. The stench emanating from the dumped garbage has permeated the surrounding areas, making it arduous for residents to breathe and causing untold suffering.
The continued neglect of the municipality administration is unacceptable and has resulted in dire consequences for our community.
Another resident said that it is high time for the authorities to prioritize the implementation of proper waste management measures to safeguard public health and preserve our environment.
The lack of accountability and responsibility demonstrated by the TMA has led to an untenable situation with residents bearing the brunt of their incompetence. Urgent action is imperative to address this pressing issue and mitigate the ongoing environmental degradation and health hazards.
