GCET faculty gets AICTE scales

JAMMU, Apr 25: The State Government today issued the SRO for Jammu College of Engineering and Technology Rules 2013 adopting AICTE Revised Pay Scales applicable to the GCET employees.
With the issuance of SRO-235, the Government has conceded long pending demand of GCET faculty members, who have been given a tremendous jump in their existing pay scales as well as benefit of Career Advancement Scheme.
Now, the pay fixation formula recommended by the 6th Central Pay Commissions shall be adopted for Technical teachers of the college. The GCET teachers appointed as such from January 1, 2006 upto the date of issuance of these rules shall be retrospectively placed in the revised AICTE Pay Scales.
Under the Career Advancement Scheme, the GCET Lecturers have been re-designated as Assistant Professors and Selection Grade Lecturers as Associate Professors with revised pay scale of Rs 15600-39100 from Rs 8000-13500 and Rs 37400-67000 from Rs 12000-18300, respectively.
Associate Professors, completing three years of service in the AGP of Rs 9000 and possessing a Ph D Degree in the relevant discipline shall be eligible to be appointed and designated as Professors in the Pay Band of Rs 37400-67000 with AGP of Rs 10000 subject to other conditions of the academic performance as laid down by the AICTE.
The revised pay and revised rates of Dearness Allowance under GCET rules shall come into force from January 1, 2006 with effective date of implementation on August 1, 2008. The revised rates of all other applicable allowances such as HRA and the compound advance increments shall take effect from August 1, 2009.
The adoption of AICTE Revised Pay Scales will not only benefit the faculty members but also make them more responsible. It shall be mandatory for the college teachers to be available in the college for at least five hours a day on each working day and their workload shall not be less than forty hours in a week.
