GCET holds lecture on NEP, its impact on scope of entrepreneurship

JAMMU, Dec 27: The Start Up Cell, Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu organized a special lecture on “Scope of Startups, Innovation and Entrepreneurship-National Education Policy 2020”.
The event was organized under the chairmanship of Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department, J&K UT and guidance of Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET Jammu. It was supported by JK Startups Association and Institution’s Innovation Council, MHRD, Government of India and was sponsored by TEQIP-III.
The programme was aimed at providing constructive direction and reorienting the minds of those who choose a career path different from the traditional roles. The lecture was attended by 200 participants comprising of students, budding entrepreneurs and faculty of various engineering institutes, degree colleges and organizations across the country.
The event was enriched by the vast knowledge and experience of eminent speaker Prof (Dr) Chandra Charu Tripathi, Director, UIET, Kurukshhetra University, Kurukshhetra. Prof Tripathi gave an insight on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its impact on ‘Scope of Entrepreneurship’ in India.
He threw light on numerous opportunities brought by the introduction of NEP 2020, which can be taken up as Startups by the budding entrepreneurs. To name few, he discussed about tailor made online test book, personalized learning platforms, AI based learning system, tools for evaluating the performance of students and tools for learning concepts at graduation level.
Dr Sameru Sharma appreciated the efforts of the organizing team comprising Dr Bhawna Sharma, Associate Professor and Chairperson StartUp Cell, Sheetal Gandotra, Associate Professor and Coordinator StartUp Cell and Sanjeev Gupta, Associate Professor, GCET Jammu.
Earlier, Sheetal Gandotra presented welcome address. The programme was coordinated by StartUp Club Students team comprising of Raghav Gupta, Adyan Gupta, Imbroz Singh, Sparshdeep Singh and Isra Ishaq. The event ended with formal vote of thanks presented by Sanjeev Gupta.
