JAMMU, Feb 22: The two day National Conference and Exhibition on Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology (NCEEITET) in technical collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur was organized at GCET Jammu.
Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department J&K, inaugurated the 9th NCEEITET in presence of Jeevan Kumar Jethani, Senior Director, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Prof Raja Dutta IIT Kharagpur; Rajiv Pharlia, CGM Power Finance Corporation Ltd and Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, Special Secretary to Govt, Higher Education Department.
Alok Kumar, while addressing the gathering, emphasized upon sustainable engineering by designing and creating things that meet the needs of the common man without harming the environment or depleting the natural resources. He also motivated the budding engineers to become the sustainable engineers to focus upon building smart cities, devise a plan to minimize waste by using renewable sources, reducing pollution and creating long –lasting efficiency system that can be enjoyed by future generations.
Earlier, Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, highlighted that the purpose of organizing such events is to provide exposure to the engineering students of J&K on latest trends in engineering and technology and to provide them an opportunity to interact, deliberate and exchange their innovative ideas with academicians, researchers, students and industry professionals. She emphasized on Global warming, climate change and emerging technologies in the areas related to green hydrogen emission and electrical vehicle and other developments in the renewable sectors.
Prof Raj Datta from IIT Kharagpur, while addressing the audience, said that the small ideas can pave a way for innovation that can prove beneficial for the society at large.
The keynote address were delivered by Jeevan Kumar Jethani. The two days conference comprised of the Invited talks, plenary talks by eminent speakers and resource persons followed by five technical parallel sessions for the contributed paper presentations.
Besides this, an exhibition was the part of the event, where the emerging technologies/ products were showcased by various Central Public Sector Undertakings of India.
