JAMMU, Nov 24: NSS unit of Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu today organized an an awareness programme on women empowerment in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women.
Arushi Jamwal was the resource person of the event who highlighted various educational scholarships and women-centric schemes like Mission Shakti. She also talked about various loans given by Women Development Corporation to women for their education, startup business or commercial vehicles.
The campaign focused on empowering and strengthening the confidence to be the future women leaders and independent with the help of many skill development courses being provided by SBI, Himayat and Social Welfare Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of the College said that women empowerment embodies providing and authorizing women to make their life decisions rather than imposing or coercing her to follow the norms set by society.
Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO who organised the programme said, “the essence of femininity should not fade into oblivion but should linger in every person’s mind. Educating young minds about this is crucial as they are at the apex of the future generation”.
About 30 volunteers participated in the campaign. Faculty members who were present were Prof Anju Bala, Dr Jyoti Parihar, Prof Shambunath, Prof Radhika Mahajan, Prof Anuradha, Prof Shalini Rana, Prof Neeraj Verma, Prof Shapia Shameem and Prof Seema Kumari. The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Prof Sarita Dogra.
