GCOE elects Students Council

JAMMU, Oct 4: The IQAC team of the Government College of Education (GCOE), Jammu has democratically conducted the student elections for the current session with the objective of inculcating the leadership and responsibility among the students.
The election of College Presidium was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Principal Dr. Kulvinder Kour and other staff members. Looking at the COVID protocols, two rounds were conducted for the event. The first round was held online on October 1 through Google form, in which students polled their votes for Class representative for each section.
In the second round, offline voting took place in the College premises on October 4 and after the secret ballot, Ms Suvidha Sambyal was elected as President, Koushal Pangotra as Vice-President and Diksha Devi was elected as Treasurer. Sheetal Bhat, Simran Bharti and Aakriti were elected as Class representatives.
The event was conducted by Dr Shubhra Jamwal, Incharge Student Support and Progression Criteria of NAAC along with the Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti,  Prof Anuradha Seth, Prof Anuradha Choudhary and Prof Seema Kumari.
Members of Advisory namely Prof. Neelam Dhar, Prof. Satish Sharma, Prof. Radhika Mahajan and Prof. Rajinder Kour were also present on the occasion.
The Students Council will coordinate with the College authorities on the conduct of extra-curricular activities throughout the year. Moreover, the Council will identify the grievances of the students in the institution and present their view points and grievances before the College authorities. The Students Council will also play active role in ensuring discipline in the College premises.
