JAMMU, Aug 8: Government College of Education (GCoE) Jammu in collaboration with Indian Pollution Control Association (lPCA) and Information Education and Communication (IEC) organized an awareness program for solid and plastic waste management.
The chief guests of the occasion were Purnima Sharma (former deputy mayor) and RJ Sarang who shared their valuable words of wisdom and highlighted the concerns around solid and plastic waste management.
Dr Jyoti Parihar, Principal, GCoE Jammu was the guest of honour. The event was graced by the presence of Ranvir Singh Chib (Regional Manager, IPCA J&K), Ankush Sharma, District Coordinator (Urban Local Bodies), IEC J&K, other dignitaries and faculty members of the College.
The resource persons shared how poor waste management – ranging from non-existing collection systems to ineffective disposal -causes air pollution, water and soil contamination and sensitized students about various methods of waste management that they can adopt in their lives.
The event was organized under the guidance of Prof Sarita Dogra (NSS PO), Dr Rajinder Kaur, Prof Kiran Thappa and Prof Roopa Kumari. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Ambica Gupta.
