JAMMU, Feb 25: The NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu in collaboration with Jammu University Blood Donors (an NGO) and Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu organized blood donation camp in the College premises today.
The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Principal of the College Dr Kulvinder Kour, who appreciated the efforts of NSS Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal and Convener of Red Ribbon Club Prof Radhika Mahajan and their team members for this noble cause. Dr Sanjogita Sudan, Health Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation was the chief guest on the occasion.
A team from Government Medical College Jammu namely Dr Salve Sharma, Monika Kundal, Savita Devi, Sonu Sharma facilitated the process. Around 30 volunteers including staff members donated blood for such noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal said that with increase in population and development of more advanced medical and surgical procedures, the need for blood is ever increasing. “Only voluntary blood donors can help to maintain an adequate supply of blood to save the lives of those who in need. They are the source of safe blood also”, she added.
Some of the students were the first time donors and they pledged to convince their friends for participating in this noble cause in future.
Among those present on the occasion were Prof Satish Sharma, Prof Rubina Yasmeen, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameen, Prof Seema Kumari and Prince Shaksham, Tariq Iqbal and Ankush Sharma (all members of Jammu University Blood Donors).
