JAMMU, Dec 15: General Category People’s Forum (GCPF), Jammu today appealed Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to take notice of non-payment of pension arrears with effect from 1-1-2016 to 31-3-2018 on account of revision of pension of JK Pensioners.
Discussing the issue during a meeting of the Forum held today, VK Sharma, vice-president of the Forum said that these arrears were to be paid by the J&K Bank as per Government Order number 223-F dated 24-04-2018 but the Bank has not paid the arrears to the pensioners till date.
Sharma said that though a lot of welfare measures have been taken for the welfare of people but pensioners have been ignored. He demanded the JK Finance Department to issue fresh instructions to the J&K Bank to pay pension arrears to the pensioners to reduce their economic problems. He also urged the Government to enhance medical allowance of pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month.
Bhushan Pargal, secretary of the Forum, appealed the Modi Government to remove restrictions imposed on the application of article 14 of India Constitution which provides equality to all the citizens of India and prohibits the discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, religion and region.
He blamed Government for promoting discrimination by restricting application of article 14, 15 and 16 to provide benefits of reservation to the affluent and powerful sections, including creamy layers of reserved categories and crushing the dreams of educationally and economically backwards. He also demanded Government welfare schemes to ameliorate the socio-economic status of the ‘poor caste’ besides providing 50 percent cut in water and electricity bills like Delhi State.
