GCPF raises demands, flays Govt

JAMMU, June 24: General Category People’s Front, Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) held its meeting today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Front chairman.
Addressing the meeting, Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, president alleged that LG administration has brought miseries to the people on all fronts and they wanted to get rid of anti-people administration which has imposed heavy taxes, fees, fines, tolls and services charges, including water and electricity bills thereby making it difficult for people to lead an easy life.
He demanded 300 Units of free electricity to every household in J&K like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, exemption of pensioners from Income Tax as pension is not an income for any services or work.
Enhancement of Medical Allowance of employees and pensioners to Rs. 1000 per month was also demanded and decision of Union Government to impose GST on food grains and essential commodities used regularly by the common people was flayed.
Sanson also condemned the continuation of reservation without any review and claimed that reservation in the light of Mandal Commission report is illegal and too old to implement today.
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary appealed to Government of India to take initiatives to end casteism and promote the principles of equality, justice, liberty and dignity to all citizens.
V.K Sharma and Bhushan Pargal, both vice presidents highlighted the agenda of the Front.
Dr. Bansi Lal, Surinder Kumar, Jagdish Dogra, Ravi Sahni and Gopal Dass Verma were also present in the meeting.
R.K Banathia hinted that Front would join electoral politics in coming days.
