JAMMU, Oct 12: The General Category People’s Front of India (GCPFI) today opposed the demand of restoring of article 370 and 35-A and said that demanding Statehood without testing the functioning of elected government is irrelevant and anti people.
In this regard a meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia,
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, President of GCPF, called upon government of India to be extremely cautious after the election results in J&K. Some ethnic groups and political parties are demanding restoring of Statehood for their own empowerment and not for the welfare of the people.
He recalled that during political parties rule in J&K, the governance and administrative reforms were not priority, the law and order situation was worst.
Sanson regretted that during elections, no political party raised the issue of unprecedented price rise, setting up of Toll Plazas, unemployment, imposition of heavy taxes, fines and fees on government services.
He said, “Despite criminal silence of the political parties toward the grave issues, voters of Jammu and also of Kashmir voted for the victory of Indian democracy. Large number of voters of reserved constituencies voted for ‘NOTA’ is their protest against political reservation which deprived them of their ‘Right to be elected’.”
Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary of Front demanded that all kinds of freebies, subsidies and cash money be stopped to lessen the burden of Taxes imposed on people, causing unprecedented price rise and Tax terrorism in the country. Implementation of all welfare schemes be fair and impartial based on equality and justice.
Among others who attended the meeting included, V.K. Sharma, Vice President, Deepak Khajuria, Bhushan Pargal, Dr. Bansi Lal, Ravi Sawhney, Gopal Dass Verma, Jagdish Dogra, Surinder Kumar and Kewal Sharma.
