GCW conducts Painting Poster Competition

Jammu, Sept 13: Under ongoing Project titled “Conservation of Biodiversity”, Department of Botany G.C.W Gandhi Nagar conducted Painting Poster Competition on September 13, 2013.
Competition was held on four themes namely Clean Green College Campus; Green communities; Global warming and Biodiversity; Biodiversity and water; Biodiversity and sustainable development.
Thirteen students of three classes took active part in making poster on various aspects. They were evaluated out of total thirty marks classified as- Border of the poster -2.5 marks; Caption- 2.5 marks; Layout- 5 marks; Justification of topic-10 marks, and impact factor-5 marks.
Out of various competitors Kamayani Sharma B.Sc II Roll No: 230 made poster on topic “Green Communities” and she stood first by securing 23 marks; Ruchika Sabherwal B. Sc II Roll No: 502 stood second having framed poster on topic- Global warming A Big warming; and Sonia Slathia B.A I, Roll No: 2441 stood third having framed poster on topic “Keep our Environment Clean and Green.
The jury members in this contest were- Prof. H.K. Kapur S.R.S Degree College; Prof. Suchitra Sapru- HoD Chemistry; Prof. Sudha sehgal- HoD Physics; and Prof. Ashwani K. Khajuria from GCW Gandhi Nagar.
Prof. H.K. Kapur the chief guest appreciated the students and asked them to take active part in conserving the biodiversity. Prof. Dr. Kiran Bakshi- Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar reminded the students about the recent tragedies caused by climate change and called upon them to keep in touch with environment every moment.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh HoD Botany spelled out the importance of the poster competition and also narrated the further programs of the ongoing projects such as slogan contests; and two days symposium; plantation; and raising medicinal garden. All the staff members took active part and they included Prof. Rajinder Sharma; Prof. Rosy bamba; Prof. Harmeet; Prof. Suman; Prof. Sangeeta; prof. Poroush, Prof. Shivani and other supporting staff members.
