JAMMU, Aug 30: As part of ongoing Sadhbawana fortnight, the NSS and Red Clubs of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar organized a seminar on “Peace Education” in which newly joined volunteers were briefed about various initiatives of NSS and Red Ribbon across nation and forthcoming activities of respective units.
Principal of the College, Dr Kiran Bakshi who was chief guest on the occasion while addressing the students said that peace education is the key to sustainable peace and development. She emphasised that the peace must come from within. Violence shall breed violence whereas non-violence can bring durable peace.
Prof Manisha Kohli, Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club spoke on HIV/AIDS prevention and role students and youth can play in preventing the society especially women and children from the menace.
Dr Ashaq Malik, NSS Programme Officer, gave a power-point presentation on Peace Education.
NSS Programme Officers Prof Shrotika Rajput and Prof Nazia Rasool coordinated the activity.
Dr Shiveta Gandotra, NSS Programme Officer, presented the formal vote of thanks while NSS volunteers Hadiqa Mariam and Syeda Fakhra Jabeen conducted the proceedings of programme.
