JAMMU, Sept 17: The Jammu University has finally issued notification clearing the autonomous status of the Government College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu.
After getting the autonomous status, the GCEW Parade gets the freedom to determine its own courses of study and syllabi, introduce new courses and to prescribe rules for admission, subject to the rules and policies of the State Government and evolve methods of evaluation and conduct of examinations.
Pertinent to mention that due to its commendable performance, the endorsement of the Autonomous status was granted to GCW Parade Ground Jammu by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Jan 20, 2014.
A committee of UGC members had earlier visited the college in December 2013 for thorough verification of Infrastructure, curriculum and academic standard of the college by the UGC. Thereafter the Jammu & Kashmir University Act was amended by the Government to incorporate Autonomous College under its ambit on February 13, 2014.
Further, the University cleared the autonomous status in the 104th university syndicate meeting held on 11-08-2014 and finally the notification to the effect was issued under No.F.Acd/1/14/10411-510 Dated: 15-09-2014.
