GCW Parade celebrates Safer Internet Day

JAMMU, Feb 11: To celebrate Safer Internet Day, an awareness workshop organised by the Department of Computer Sciences at the Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Ground, was held here today.
This event is part of a broader initiative led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MIETY) under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project.
The Principal of the College, Dr Ravender Kumar Tickoo, was the chief guest for the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tickoo shared his insights on safe internet practices and cyber hygiene to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
The keynote workshop was conducted by Prof Vinus Sharma, Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, who delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on internet safety and remedies to protect against cyber fraud.
Dr Anjali Abrol, Staff Secretary of the college, also shared her views on the topic and shared her experiences with the students to help them avoid cyber fraud.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sujat Khan.
The workshop was attended by Dr Sushma Chib, Dr Sarita Parihar, Prof Rakesh Goswami, Antriksh Sehgal, Haseena Kouser, Rubya Irm, Niharika and Danish.
Safer Internet Day, observed globally, aims to raise awareness about online safety and foster a culture of responsible digital use.
This year’s theme, “Together for a Better Internet,” underscores the collective effort needed to create a safer and more inclusive online environment.
