JAMMU, May 29: Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Shallu Samyal, GDC Bishnah team organized a visit to adopted village Ratnal to commemorate the International Day of Action for Women’s Health.
Village Sarpanch, Kamal Singh welcomed the College team. Dr. Rama, joint secretary of Arogyabharati, NGO was the resource person and she talked at length on ‘Healthy Life Style and Women’s Menstrual Hygiene’. She focused on ailments a woman faces during monthly period, use of sanitary pads, prenatal and post-natal care etc.
After thought provoking lecture the participants discussed their health issues with the doctors and sought advice of the doctor.
Dr. Rama threw light on myths prevalent on menstrual and through the talk she attempted to demystify them. She also cleared the apprehension on menstrual period that a woman is unclean and she must observe certain ordeals during this time.
Around 40 women participated enthusiastically and assured to follow the advice of the Doctor.
Dr. Nisar Ahmad Bhulla, Coordinator of IQAC prepared a plan to conduct such visit for providing community service to enlighten women about their health rights.
Dr. Preeti Mahajan was leading the visiting team, Prof. Sania Hamid, Prof. Shrotika Rajput, Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Geeta Lakhotra were team members.
The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS PO.
