GDC Kathua organizes national seminar on New Education Policy

KATHUA, Jan 30: Department of Education and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Government Degree College (Boys), Kathua organized one day national seminar on the theme ‘New Education Policy: Issues and Challenges’.
The stage was coordinated by Prof. Sumanesh who initiated the proceedings of the inaugural session. Ch. Lal Singh,  MLA, Basohli and former Minister was the chief guest. The welcome address was given by the Principal of the College Dr. Nater Singh. He welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, academician, educationists, research scholars and students. He emphasized the need of organizing seminars on the current issues and themes are the part and parcel of higher education system. “Our college has tradition of organizing such national events. The college has organized three national seminars and one national conference and one more national conference is proposed to be held in the last week of February’’, he added.
The seminar is planned and organized on the 33 themes of New Education Policy and is aimed to provide the platform to all stakeholders of education to give their feedback on the forthcoming policy. The book of abstracts was released by Mr Lal Singh. The keynote address was presented by Dr. J.N. Baliya, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, Jammu.
In his address he made an elaborate deliberation on different themes of higher education. He discussed different aspects of the themes of the New Education Policy and touched the core issues and challenges of each theme and then opened the discussion on the themes of the policy.
In his address, Ch.Lal Singh encouraged the participants and urged them to involve in the discussion and interaction with participants, paper presenters, chairpersons and gave valuable recommendations for the upcoming policy of education. The formal vote of thanks was given by Prof.P.K.Rao, organizing Secretary of the seminar.
