GDCW Kathua inks MoU with JKEDI

KATHUA, Dec 5: In a significant step towards promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and hands-on learning, Govt Degree College for Women, Kathua has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).
This collaboration is designed to empower students with the skills and resources needed to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of technology, innovation and startups.
The MoU was signed by Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI and Dr Savi Behl, Principal, Govt Degree College for Women, Kathua, in the presence of key officials from both the institutions. The MoU was signed under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, Director JKEDI said that the MoU is aimed at working together and focus their efforts on cooperation within the areas of entrepreneurship, skill based training, educational research and promotion of startup and innovation culture. The collaboration will promote more effective use of resources, and provide the institution with enhanced opportunities. JKEDI shall extend support for internships to students of the college, based on recommendations through proper channels subject to suitable positions and criteria fulfillment. The students shall also be trained in emerging technologies in order to bridge the skill gap and make them industry ready.
Principal of GDCW Kathua, Dr Savi Behl, in her remarks, said that the partnership is a significant stride to help the student community benefit by enhancing their skills and knowledge with regard to entrepreneurship, innovation and startups. This MoU shall offer the students enhanced opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and contribute to the region’s economic growth, she added.
Dr Inderjeet Kour, Convener, IQAC; Dr Babita Mahajan, Associate Professor in Chemistry from GDCW Kathua and Zahid Ali Dar, Aparna Abrol from JKEDI were also present on the occasion.
