Gear up men, machinery for cleaning of nallahs: Bhalla to JMC

JAMMU, June 8: In view of ensuing monsoon, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to gear up men and machinery for removing debris from Rajiv Nagar, Gangyal, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar, Bhour Camp nallahs so that the residents of the localities do not face any inconvenience during rainy season.
The Minister was interacting with the JMC authorities during his extensive tour to different areas.
Mr. Bhalla said  that it is the prime duty of the Government to provide all civic amenities to the people, adding that there was no constraint of funds. He called upon the inhabitants of Rajiv Nagar, Gangyal, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar, Bhour Camp not to dump building material near the nallahs.
The Minister urged upon the people to cooperate with JMC in making their areas ‘a hygienic locality’.
Mr. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 68 crore for modernization of Gangyal, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar Bhour Camp and Rajiv Nagar Barsati nallahs, adding that the project would be started soon by Economic Reconstruction Agency after completing tendering formalities.
Later, the Minister also visited Babliana, Bandhu Rakh, Gangyal, Greater Kailash and assessed the problems of the inhabitants related to un-interrupted power supply.
Mr. Bhalla gave patient hearing to them and directed the Power Development Department officers to immediately shift the load of Greater Kailash station to Bari Brahamna station so that the people of Babliana, Bandhu Rakh, Gangyal, Greater Kailash, Sainik Colony would get relief from uninterrupted power supply. He assured the people that the problem related to uninterrupted power supply would be solved within two days. He said Government is committed to provide regular power supply in the metered areas of the State. He called upon the people to use drinking water and power judiciously and avoid power theft and help PDD in identifying those who misuse power by hooking so that they can be punished. He said Government has constituted a team of senior PDD functionaries to conduct surprise checks to nab power thieves.
The Minister said that Government has spent Rs. five crore under PDD sector for augmentation of 132/33 KV transformation from 100 MVA to 150 MVA at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal to cater to the electricity needs of people in Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat, Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Sainik Colony, Bathindi, Transport Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Bahu Fort, Residency Road, Panjthirthi.
