JAMMU, Mar 16: A deputation of All J&K Graduate Engineers Association, Civil (GEASSOC) today met the Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti Deptt Department, M Raju and discussed the burning issues of engineers and stagnation in the department.
It was apprised during the meeting by the Association president, Gopal Sharma that a number of posts of Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, AEEs etc in Jal Shakti Deptt as well as allied engineering departments like JKSPDC, CVPPL, H&UDD, RDD etc are lying vacant consequent upon promotion or retirement at various levels and many engineers are also having adequate qualifying service as prescribed in Engineering service rules.
He further pointed out that review of Engineering cadre is direly needed for better promotion avenues of engineers which is also a step forward to remove stagnation besides, regularization of services of engineers at all levels in Jal Shakti Deptt. It was also narrated that assured career progression scheme for engineers was approved since long but SRO couldn’t be issued by Finance deptt.
The Commissioner had a patient hearing of all the issues and assured that all the genuine demands will be fulfilled and file for reviewing of Engineering cadre stands submitted with the Finance department . He said regularization of Engineers is being vigorously taken and pursued with Public Service Commission and visible positive results in this regards will surface soon.
Commissioner/ Secretary also disclosed that though Jal Shakti department is keen to resolve the stagnation issue but sometimes promotions or regularization of services of Engineers are halted due to court cases in service matters for which Association should also come forward to get the unjustified court cases closed so that all the burning issues of engineers are resolved which sometimes become hurdle in making promotions. It was directed by Commissioner Secretary to his subordinate staff to work out the available vacancies so that promotion and posting orders in favour of Engineers are issued.
Prominent among those who were part of the meeting include, Arun Kumar Kotwal, Additional Secretary, Himesh Manchanda, CE, I&FC, Brahm Jyoti Sharma, Secretary (GEASSOC), GA Bhat and others.
