GEJAC condemns lathi-charge, projects demands

JAMMU,  June 16:  While strongly condemning police lathi-charge on  protesting PDD workers in Srinagar, J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee has asked the Government to learn lesson from its past mistakes and address the pending issues of the employees.
In a meeting of the JAC held under the chairmanship of  Ram Kumar Sharma here today, the members in one voice condemned the  lathi-charge on peacefully protesting  PDD daily wagers in Srinagar and also demanded release of  senior trade union leader Rafiq Ahmed Khanyari (JKCNGEEU) and others who have been detained by police.  The meeting called upon the Government to show seriousness in resolving the pending issues of the employees.
They pointed out that Government has increased the retirement age of the employees but it has maintained silence over the other demands including removal of pay anomalies, regularization of workers, budgetary support to PSUs etc.
They urged upon the Government to learn lesson from its mistakes and address pending issues without any further delay.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included  Balwan Singh Jamwal, Yash Paul,  Madan S,  K A Dewani,  Sanjay Dhar, Kuleep Singh,  M Gill, Kamla Sharma, Javed Ahmed, Joginder Singh  and Mohd Ramzan.
