LEH, Jan 7: The Department of Industries and Commerce, Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India launched a national outreach programme, GeM Samvaad, at DC office conference hall today.
The programme was inaugurated by Advisor to Lt. Governor, Ladakh, Umang Narula, , Rajeev Kandpal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Div. Com/Secretary Industries & Commerce Department Ladakh, Saugat Biswas, DC/CEO LAHDC, Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Finance Officer, GeM, Kush Tyagi, Director GeM, Dipash Ghalot, Director Industries and Commerce/ADDC Leh, Moses Kunzang, District Officers, DDOs and other stakeholder from Leh and Kargil were attended the National Outreach programme.
In the inaugural address, Advisor to Lt. Governor, Ladakh said that Government e-Marketplace has created opportunities to explore unique products of the region. He further said that the program will extensively help the buyer for dealing day-to-day procurement purchasing for Government agencies.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Rajeev Kandpal gave detailed background about the GeM Portal and said that Government-e-Marketplace is a national public procurement portal offering end to end solution for all procurement needs of Government departments and autonomous bodies.
He further added that the outreach programme has begun from 19th December 2019 and continue till 17th February 2020 and will cover all the States and Union Territories of the country. He also said that the program will give exposure to the officials regarding General Financial Rules (GFR) and other financial matters while dealing with the administrative work.
Dipash Ghalot, Director GeM, gave detailed presentation on GeM and highlighted the procedure of registration, payments and Procurement life cycle for both buyers and sellers. He also informed that GeM has more than 15 lakh products and around 20,000 services, more than 3 lakh registers sellers and service providers and more than 41,000 Government buyers’ organizations, in its short journey of three years,
During an interactive session the officials/buyers and sellers from both Leh and Kargil raised number of question regarding the Government e-Marketplace. They also shared their apprehensions and sought clarity about the benefits under GeM Portal.
In the afternoon session/ Business Facilitator, GeM, Kush Tyagi delivered a presentation on introduction to functionality of buyer highlighting pre-requisites for registration as Primary and Secondary user on GeM portal. An interactive session was also held for the sellers of both Leh and Kargil district which includes commercial organizations, Industry bodies, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs etc.
